For Flora
These texts have been completed from the time I met my dear friend Flora and up to her departure. The majority of the work is related directly to her and substantial amount arose directly out of our written communication. I’ve retained the order that works were completed in. The idea of combining the written work with images came partly from a desire to present these works to Flora as a gift and partly from her interest in Tarot cards. The images were executed in one morning the texts resolved over approximately six months. A small number of texts are a completion of previous unresolved pieces. I asked Flora to make the decision on which text went with which image. There was one image left over where upon I conceived the notion of doing another work as a distillation of the whole project. A kind of outgrowth, a mutant spawn, a lunatic single. Thus Star Fires Affliction which was originally recorded as a stand-alone work. This was all some years ago and I’ve recorded the album resolving the whole idea of a book of texts and images with an accompanying album.
